YouTube Music have added a new feature that lets you search for songs that are on the tip of your tongue by singing along.

We’ve all been there. You can sing along to the melody of a song that’s stuck in your head but you can’t for the life of you remember the lyrics or the song name. Well, YouTube Music have the answer for you.

YouTube Music have just launched their new feature. You can now search songs by playing, singing, or humming a song into YouTube Music. The feature is now available on the Android version of the app.

To use it, open your YouTube Music app. Tap the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner and a waveform icon should appear next to the microphone. They use AI to “match the sound to the original recording”. The result will show a full screen result of the song details, artwork, and options to play or save the track to your library.

Hum to Search was built into Google Search way back in 2020. It was expanded into the YouTube app last year and has now finally come to their music streaming service’s dedicated app. There is currently no announcement of if and when the feature will come to the iOS version of the app.
